Produced by the famous director duo Abbas-Mustan, 'Life Partner' takes you to the swish locales of South Africa and promises to make you laugh till you drop. It has been directed by Rumi Jaffrey, with Pritam and Sachin-Jigar being the music providers. The lyrics have been provided by Javed Akhtar and Kumaar. The movie will be released on 14th August 2009, under the banner 'Burmawala Bros' and 'Studio 18'. A full-on comedy flick, it deals with the concept of a ‘life partner’ and how it is interpreted by different people.
'Life Partner' revolves around the life of three friends - Karan (Fardeen Khan), Bhavesh (Tusshar Kapoor), and Jeet (Govinda). Karan has a girlfriend Sanjana (Genelia D’Souza), whom he is madly in love with. Marriage seems to be the next logical step in their relationship, which will cement it further. But, is ‘love marriage’ the right step? This is an answer that they will have to find for themselves. Bhavesh (Tusshar Kapoor) is a simple guy, for whom life partner means someone who has the approval of his family.
Bhavesh meets Prachi (Prachi Desai). Now, he has to grapple with the question, is ‘arranged marriage’ meant for him? He is not able to decide whether it is right to prioritize family over marriage? Does he want Prachi to prove herself a worthy daughter-in-law, in order to meet the criteria of the perfect wife? Jeet (Govinda) is a divorce lawyer, for whom marriage has no meaning.
