Nothing more else you can expect from this filmmaker who doesn’t strain on churning out a meaningful film. Well, such directors have been defining ‘Commercial Cinema’ with wrong dimension with annoying factors of over heroisms, ridiculous stuffs and more. Kavithalaya Productions witnessed a great disaster with ‘Kuselan’ and now there’s something above those levels of profit that producers can expect. Perarasu has solaced the producers with a relief that would fill their sacs with minimum profits. But then, a film buff cannot anticipate something great with this film as it has clichéd plotline, half a dozen of stunts, irritating songs, punch dialogues and it goes on….
Thiruvannamalai is centered on a local cable TV operator Eeswaran (Arjun), who fights against social evils extended by baddies. Right from early minutes of the film, he has a great clash with local MLA (Sai Kumar). Much distressed about her son’s activities, Eeswaran’s mother takes him to a Saadhu who looks alike Eeswaran (Saadhu’s role is again played by Arjun). As the Saadhu tries to make Eeswaran lead a peaceful life, there’s something challenging he has to face. Eeswaran gainsays Saadhu to live in his place for 3 months to witness the troubles around in society.
Rest of the film is all about how Saadhu faces whole lot of troubles by the same baddies. Finally does he put an end to the evil forces with his peaceful means or expose his fists of anger forms crux of the story.
As usual, Arjun doesn’t get on for a different show as in his previous week’s release ‘Bommalaatam’ where he spelled his new-dimensioned performance. It’s a great entertainment for Arjun’s fans as they get gratified with his stunning actions and good dance. Well, it’s so ridiculous to see how come a Saadhu leading a pious life on Thiruvannamalai is well versed with action stunts of bumping off 20men at a time. Indeed, one of his tactics of handling a serious situation in saving his Eeswaran’s sister from a rowdy was quite brilliant. But Director fails to prolong the same scenario in the latter parts. Pooja Gandhi doesn’t appear more than 5 scenes in the entire show. All that she does is falling in love with our hero, shaking her legs with him and finally joining hands with in the climax sequence. Sai Kumar is apt for the role of MLA as he has already donned similar roles in his previous films. But those donning villain roles can watch Hollywood or atleast Bollywood flicks. It would be nice if they stop shouting like a bear that lost its cubs.
Srikanth Deva’s musical score in no way catches up for anyone’s attention and even background score is so worst in many parts. How dare does he tune the most patriotic tunes of ‘Saare Jaahan Se Accha’ in a Kuthu beat style? Padmesh’s cinematography is so convincing for a commercial flick, but it would be nice if they can avoid unnecessary shakes, tilting up and down on his cameras.
On the whole, Perarasu makes you feel that he has done something different on the interval where a great challenge is established between two characters. But with everyone anticipating that the screenplay would be sans stunts, it’s completely letting down us with a regretful work.
