Terribly Happy Danish Synopsis :
The official Danish selection for this year’s Academy Awards and winner of 7 Robert Awards (Danish Oscars) including Best Picture, Director, Actor, Actress and Screenplay, TERRIBLY HAPPY spins a riveting yarn about Robert Hanson (Jakob Cedergren), a Copenhagen police officer who, following a nervous breakdown, is transferred to a small provincial town to take on the mysteriously vacated marshal position and subsequently gets mixed up with a married femme fatale. Robert’s big city temperament makes it impossible for him to fit in, or understand the uncivilized, bizarre behavior displayed by the townspeople. Quickly spiraling into an intense fable, director Henrik Ruben Genz displays a unique and sometimes macabre vision of the darkest depths to which people will go to achieve a sense of security and belonging.

Denmark Movie Terribly Happy Reviews :
Terribly Happy is a stylish Danish noir based on actual events. It's a classic "fish out of water" story. Robert (Jakob Cedergren ),a police officer is sent from Copenhagen to a small Danish village as its new Marshall. He soon finds that the village people have their own set of rules and laws and are not ready to accept outside interference with their coda of justice. Although at first Robert tries to play everything by the book, he is soon drawn deeply into the villagers' web of deceit and corruption.
The director Henrik Ruben Genz creates a very bleak atmosphere set against the Danish countryside. The film is full of black humor, reminiscent of Coen Brothers, specially Fargo. The casting is particularly good, with Kim Bodnia outstanding as a wife beating lout. Terribly Happy is tightly directed and is gripping from start to finish. Recommended.
I recently saw this at the 2009 Palm Springs International Film Festival. from writer/director Henrik Ruben Genze based on the novel by Erling Jepsen is a dark and quirky crime story set in a small rural Danish village where everybody knows everything about everyone and they live and die by their own unique code of justice. Robert (Jakob Cedergren) is a cop from the city who has been reassigned as the town marshall because of a mental breakdown he suffered and he has to stay in the demotion until he can work his way back onto the force back in the the city. He immediately discovers the odd and unwelcome clannish ways of border town community and meets Ingerlise (Lena Maria Christiansen), the abused wife of the town bully Jorgen (Kim Bodnia). This is a psychological thriller with suspense and dark comedy woven together in a story that is almost Stephen King-like. The moody cinematography from Jorgen Johansson is excellent and the film moves at a slow pace but never drags down and keeps your interest throughout. I would give this an 8.5 out of 10 and recommend it.

Danish auteur Christoffer Boe is a great favorite in these parts, a film maker who we have been following since his debut feature Reconstruction through to his most recent effort - the first person descent into madness Offscreen - and we have been anxiously been waiting for whatever Boe may do next. And what he's doing next is a thriller titled Everything Will Be Fine.

Given Boe's past history expect this to be very smart, impeccably well shot and very likely not at all interested in playing by the standard thriller rules. Boe lives in a unique world somewhere between the arthouse and conventional genre film and loves nothing more than to fuse and confuse the two in surprising fashion. Everything Will Be Fine is do for release in early 2010.
I wish there were English subtitles for writer/director Christoffer Boe's feature Everything Will be fine, not because this trailer has a bit of a retro 70s style to go along with the sweet poster to the right, but I have no idea what's going on other then "nothing is actually what it seems". Anyone want to sub this for us?

The film Directed by Per Fly .About his film, Per Fly writes: Embedded in the idea of love is the hope of transcending the loneliness of our existence. But love can also develop into an obsession, demanding its victims. Whatever course love takes,

the dream still is 'to become one with another person'.
