In real life too, burgers, pizzas, sizzlers and colas have replaced sarson ka saag, dal-roti and sherbat-n-gola. But you do crave for desi food when you keep munching non-desi stuff all the while, don't you? The fact is, desi stories, with real characters, can never go out of fashion. In fact, a number of present-day film-makers often tell me that they look upon, besides other reputed names, Hrishikesh Mukherjee as an inspiration. On one hand you had Amitabh Bachchan, the reigning superstar of 1970s and 1980s, doing a Sholay and an Amar Akbar Anthony and on the other hand, doing a Bemisaal and a Chupke Chupke for Hrishi-da. Debutante director Rahul Aggarwal also, very respectfully, credits his inspiration to Hrishi-da and his first outing Na Ghar Ke Na Ghaat Ke mirrors the fact at several points of the narrative. The protagonist in the film is like any other non-descript person you set your eyes on the street, who is as helpless as you and me in a life-changing situation. A film like Na Ghar Ke Na Ghaat Ke ought to have a simple, uncomplicated plotline and actors who can pull off these roles without 'acting' those parts. While the writing is interesting at times and wobbly at places [the climax is weak], the set of actors are more or less believable. Final word? Na Ghar Ke Na Ghaat Ke may not be that small little gem that sparkles brightly even in the dark, but it's an earnest effort from a first-time storyteller [Rahul Aggarwal] nonetheless.

Hello Zindagi Bollywood film Review : Lately, good films have spoilt the audiences. All they want is one good film after another. In such a scenario, Hello Zindagi however breaks this trend. The film will make you want to curse yourself for going to the theatre and the director for making it. Hello Zindagi highlights parenting issues in the current generation and it talks about saving the Olive Ridley turtles in the second half. It takes more than an hour for the director to explain what Kavita (Mrunmayee Lagoo) is up to. Fresh out of college, Kavita is confused about her way forward. The one thing she hates the most is her forever nagging mother, Indra (Neena Gupta) who wants her to do those idealistic things a daughter should do like wearing traditional clothes, learning to cook and so on. Girish (Kanwaljit Singh) is always supportive of her daughter Kavita, irrespective of what she does, and motivates her to follow her dreams. In fact, Kavita admits that she is incomplete without her father and considers him as her best friend until one day an accident changes the course of her life.
The director juggles between two stories, Kavita's journey towards self realisation and the issue to save the Olive Ridley Turtles. You'll soon find out why. Kavita meets Dr Sadhana (Kitu Gidwani) a doctor, who not only understands her but also acts as her guardian and guides her through troubled waters. She takes her for a trip to Goa and that's when the real crux ofthe film is revealed. Why she helps her? Is it because she was a student of Kavita's mother and was only doing her a favour or she had an ulterior motive is for you to find out. The background score is very ordinary and in the defining moments of the film, it fails to produce any impact. What covers up the bad music are the spontaneous and clean performances by Mrunmayee Lagoo and Kitu Gidwani, who are seen throughoutthe film. Films with 'Hinglish' conversation often fails to add colour to the characters. Their accents seem jarring to the ears. Wish the dialogues were better. During Kavita's stay in Goa, she meets Arpan (Milind Gunaji), who has given up a luxurious life abroad and turns an environmentalist to protect the eggs of turtles. The trip to Goa however turns out to be a life-altering one for Kavita as she decides to help Arpan in his mission.

HUM TUM AUR GHOST News: month-and-a-half before his film Hum Tum Aur Ghost releases, Arshad Warsi has taken a mannat - he will not drink and eat meat till the time his film releases. Arshad, who is known to be a hardcore meateater, has taken this oath to see how much self control he has. Warsi, the new teetotaler, says, “It is just something that I have promised myself. It is not a religious mannat, but it is self-imposed. God has been very kind to me, so I want to see if I can make these little sacrifices. I am a hardcore meateater and I know it will be difficult to survive as I eat it every day. However, I am determined to forsake that for my production.” Warsi is not an actor who is vigilant about self-control. He adds, “I am a party animal and I believe in living life to the fullest. However, just two months before my shoot starts, I start working out and getting back in shape. Thankfully I lose weight easily and it always works for me. So, for me not partying is rare.” The question then arises is whether the audience can look forward to a memorable act by Arshad Warsi in his own home production, HUM TUM AUR GHOST. The film (previously titled KAUN BOLA?) is a love story and at the same time a romantic comedy, starring Dia Mirza, Boman Irani and Sandhya Mridul. It's being directed by Kabeer Kaushik of SEHAR fame which too had Arshad Warsi in the lead role. As may be recalled, the critically acclaimed SEHAR helped establish Arshad Warsi as one of the better actors in Bollywood. The benevolent Arshad, rather than speaking about his own role or character in the film, is all praise for his MUNNABHAI co-star Boman Irani, who he says has done a fantastic job in the film and is confident that Boman's character will definitely appeal to all. Shaapit Movie Synopsis: When Aman (Aditya Narayan) proposes to Kaaya(Shweta Agarwal), neither does he nor Kaaya know about the generational curse that plagues Kaaya's family. As soon as Kaaya wears the engagement ring and the couple drives off together, their car takes a spin and bounces of the road almost killing the both of them. When Kaaya's parents hear about their daughter's accident, they rush to the hospital to find an engagement ring on their daughter's finger. Distraught, the father explains to the young couple that three hundred years back their family had incurred the curse of an angry Brahmin and that curse did not allow the daughter's of their family to be married. The couple finds it hard to believe but there is little choice as their lives are constantly in danger. Aman and Kaaya cannot live without each other, but there is little that they can do till Aman meets Pashupathi who is the master of the ways of the spiritual world. Pashupathi tells Aman that in some cultures, there was a belief that a generational curse worked much after even the person who had uttered the curse was dead because, it was believed, that an evil curse when uttered stuck to an evil spirit and the spirit then became the keeper of the curse and it was the duty of that evil spirit to make the curse come true generation after generation. Aman asks Pashupathi if there was a way to destroy the spirit and get rid of the curse. Pashupathi tells him that there was a way but it was filled with peril. If he sets about to hunt and destroy a spirit then the spirit would also know that it was being hunted. It would become a war between man and the devil. Was he ready for it? Aman tells Pashupathi that he would fight for his love... and so begins their journey. Through the world of fear and intrigue and the eternal fight between good and evil. Will love conquer all?

The Legend Of Kunal Film News: Tabu refuses to look younger than her age for the flashback scenes in The Legend of Kunal. The hunt for a young Tabu is on Actresses over the years have felt flattered to play characters much younger than their real age.Years ago Mala Sinha, when she was pushing 40, actually got into a frock to play a school girl in Paisa Ya Pyar. But that’s not the case with Tabu. 38-year-old Tabu, who is playing the character of Tishyarakshitra, Emperor Ashoka’s (played by Amitabh Bachchan) wife in the period film The Legend of Kunal, has refused to be shown younger for certain scenes. Incidentally, Tabu had no qualms about playing a woman at least twice her age in Mahesh Manjrekar’s Astitva (2000). Chandraprakash Dwivedi, director of The Legend of Kunal elaborated, “Before Tabu said no to looking younger, we had planned to make both Amitji and Tabu lose years on screen. With Amitji, the process of looking younger for the flashback would’ve been much more difficult. But we had consulted make-up artistes from abroad and they had assured us that it could be done. With Tabu, the process would’ve been much easier because she can look like a 20-year-old without prosthetic support. But she refused. ‘Take a younger artiste to play my character’s young portion,’ Tabu suggested. When she opted out, we naturally had to change plans of making Amitji look younger.” Now Dwivedi is hunting for actors who resemble the Big B and Tabu but are half their age. The director said, “We haven’t found the actors to play the young Amitji and Tabu yet. But we aren’t worried because they occupy a very small portion of the narrative. Synopsis: Rokkk...A story based on hallucinations and illusions experienced due to occurring of nerve wrecking incidents, causing a spine chilling thrill, created by a paradox of paranormal ideas, Rokkk is based on a combination of supernatural thoughts and Inevitable emotions. Ravi ties the knot for the second time after an unknown death of his first wife Pooja. Anushka's mother is a single conservative parent, who totally refuses to accept their relationship. However, her only help in distress is her sister Ahana. The couple begin their journey in a beautiful home purchased by Ravi two years ago. Their life was content until one day... when unexpected turns and twists take place in Anushka's life. Anushka tries to share her experiences with her husband, who in turn thinks that his wife is hallucinating and so decides to move back to his earlier house. Although the horror doesn't seem to stop in this house either. Anushka is petrified and suspects that Pooja is behind all these nerve wrecking incidents. Incapable to abide with the tormenting incidents, she seeks advice from a healer who enlightens her about the accursed house and tells her that who ever will pass through the shadow of the house will be cursed and will die a painful death. He gives her some 'yantra's which can only protect her, but not free her from the evil curse. While Anushka tries to discover the motive behind these unexplainable incidents, her husband and sister-in-law get murdered. She is charged with murder for the same and hence is taken to an asylum. Anushka tries to reach her sister for help but is unable. Sensing a problem, Ahana begins her journey to rescue her sister. As she reaches the asylum she meets Ranveer, a cop who is in charge of this case. He informs Ahana about the charges levied on Anushka and also about her escape from the asylum. The story continues as Ranveer and Ahana come together, though they refuse to follow the same path but their destination is the same (Anushka). In their journey they get cursed by the shadow of the house, and as they move further they also meet the same healer who helps them unfold mysteries behind the accursed house. The story continues with thrill and excitement as it slowly reveals the secret behind the accursed house. But the questions remain the same; will Ahana be able to find her estranged sister? Rokkk Movie News: Presently, Udita is looking forward to the release of her next film Rokkk on March 5. In the movie, she plays Aahana, a MBA student from Delhi who comes to Goa in search of her missing sister. “Even though horror and super-natural genre is not very popular, I think Rokkk is by far the best super-natural thriller made in India. Success of a film depends on how the story is handled and brought on screen by the director irrespective of its genre,” she is quoted as saying.

Remember RGV had challenged audiences earlier during the release of his film PHOONK and dared them to watch it alone. He had even announced a cash reward of rupees five lakh to the winners of the challenge. Now, a similar game is being played by the makers of the upcoming film ROKKK. The film which also touches a horror subject stars Udita Goswami, Tanushree Dutta and Shaad Randhawa in the lead. The director of the film, Rajesh Ranshinge has openly challenged Ram Gopal Varma to watch the film alone and win a cash prize of five lakh. He says, "We have made a very sincere film which will make the audiences shiver with horror. I remember RGV challenging audiences to watch his film PHOONK and rewarding them. This time I am challenging the filmmaker to watch my film alone. I will reward him in return and that's a promise.
