Sandra Bullock presented the award for Best Actor during the 83rd Academy Awards on Sunday.
This time last year, newly minted Oscar winner Sandra Bullock became the most talked-about celeb in Hollywood when, just four days after the Academy Awards, her then-husband, Jesse James, was caught in a messy cheating scandal.
The "Blind Side" actress, 46, then revealed she'd been hiding an even bigger secret – new baby Louis, whom she'd slyly adopted months before with James.
Having stayed out of the spotlight ever since, Bullock made a triumphant return to the Oscars on Sunday night, wowing the crowd in a plunging red Vera Wang gown.
"It felt good," she told USA Today's Andrea Mandell, of why she chose her dress. "And I know a little guy who recognized red," she added, in a nod to her son.
While her ex has continued to land himself into the tabloids, getting engaged to his rebound-romance Kat Von D and announcing plans to release a memoir, Bullock has focused on being a mom.
"It's made me a better person," she told NBC's Maria Menounos about her new life. "I'm more patient and accommodating. I really appreciate where I am."
The actress, who took some time off from acting to focus on her son, has just started shooting "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close" with co-star Tom Hanks.
"I just did my first day of work in over a year and a half on Friday," she said.
Though she was on hand to present the Best Actor award, Bullock refused to play favorites on the red carpet. "I'm voting for me to have a really good time," she told reporters, in lieu of picking any winners.
As for her own memorable Oscar night? Bullock has already forgotten it.
"When I was presenting last time I'd only had like two hours [of sleep] and I don't remember anything," she told E!'s Ryan Seacrest. "I remember none of it."
