Avtansh Chitransh, is a TV journalist. A 2003 batch student of Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Chitransh has worked for several news channels including Sahara Samay, India TV & Aaj Tak.
Chitransh hails from a town which is also the world’s oldest city, the land of Siva, Varanasi. Since his student life in Benaras Hindu University, he has been associated with some of the major daily newspapers like Jansatta, Times of India and Hindustan. How a espionage action saved a deadly battle between two arch rival countries like India and Pakistan and saved so many precious lives of soldiers.
The background of this story starts from the tragady of Indo-pak partition, when a Sindhi Family was forced to migrate from his luxrious house in Lahore to dark streets of Old delhi. They had lost eveyhing in post partition riots. The Patriotic head of the family gets cought in espionage war between two countries. But he does not know that his decision to become a spy will one day cost his son also that too on the false charges of spying for the rival country.
The political capital of the country may soon give Mumbai, the tinsel town, a run for its money. After the likes of Kunal Kohli had brought out the historicity of the city in “Fanaa” and Subhash Ghai have taken us to the by-lanes of Old D elhi in the recent “Black & White”, more and more filmmakers are heading to the Capital for location shooting of their films. While the high profile Rakesh Omprakash Mehra whose previous film, “Rang De Basanti” was shot in Delhi too, has set his “Delhi 6”,in the Capital, Dibakar Banerjee who recently won the National Award for “Khosla Ka Ghosla”, had a 20 day shoot for his next film here too.
Joining the ranks is director Avinash Chitransh, who recently shot a good part of his debut film “Phaans: Ek Jasoos Ki Kahani” at various places across the city. While the noisy Azad Market doubled up for Lahore, the banks of river Yamuna passed off as Wagah border.
Vidya Sinha, the popular actress of the 1970s who was last seen more than a half decade ago, is making a comeback with this venture. Veteran actor Raza Murad will also be seen in the film which has a pair of newcomers playing the lead roles. While the hero Karan Malhotra will soon be seen in forthcoming film “Faraar” alongwith Akbar Khan and Shahbaz Khan, the heroine Shiva Munjal has done a number of commercials and a few SouthIndian films before bagging this spy thriller. “Phaans” is a low budget film which is likely to be completed shortly. Half of the film has already been shot in Mumbai. The music of the film is composed by Dilip Sen-Sameer Sen. Not discouraged by the lack of local enthusiasm, producer Jawahar Lal Jairat claims, “the film will be one of its kind”.
