Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire, originally known as Push: Based on the Novel by Sapphire, is a 2009 American drama film, adapted from the 1996 Sapphire novel Push. The film premiered in January 2009 at the Sundance Film Festival, where it won the Audience Award and the Grand Jury Prize for best drama, as well as a Special Jury Prize for supporting actress Mo'Nique.
The film is directed by Lee Daniels and co-produced by Daniels' company, Lee Daniels Entertainment, and Smokewood Entertainment Group, which is owned by Sarah Siegel-Magness and Gary Magness; the two production companies also collaborated on Tennessee.[9] The theme song forthe film, titled "Push," was written and produced by Robin Thicke.[10]
This is a book that I could not seem to put down although at times it was so horrific and horribly sad that I had to walk away and come back.Sapphire's writing caused me to step into the life of poor little Precious Jones; it was as if I was walking in her shoes. I saw what she saw, I thought what she thought, I cried when she cried and I felt what she felt. I must say thatSapphire is a brilliant writer! Although I had to remind my self that it was a fictional story, I knew that it was the reality of so many and now the blunt, harsh, cruel secret is out. She put the educational system, the welfare system, and those who mishandle their power in the psychiatric arena on BLAST!Precious Jones, her mother, her father, her grandmother, her children, her teachers, Ms.Michael Jackson's This Is It, her friends, and everyone she came in contact with are truly real to life characters even though this novel is fictional. I loved the book! My hope is that the movie does the book just
